College of Humanities

The College of Humanities at Pass Christian University offers programs to provide students with a solid foundation for a broad range of careers. While Humanities programs are not focused on vocational education, they do cultivate the basic skills that will prepare students for success in their chosen professions, such as effective writing, logical and critical thinking, public speaking and debating.

The courses offered by the College of Humanities include subjects such as religion, philosophy, music, languages, art, literature, and drama to give students a broad view of human behavior, thought, and values. Students are encouraged to study other cultures in order to broaden their knowledge and experience. A graduate with a Humanities degree may become a teacher, or they may use their degree as the groundwork for an advanced degree in a professional field such as law, medicine or journalism.

Learning is facilitated through faculty-led discussions as well as individual and team projects. Successful Humanities students will
  • Articulate knowledge of cultures, traditions, ideas, and historical developments in the human experience.
  • Explain the relationships among philosophy, language, literature, history, and the arts.
  • Demonstrate critical reasoning.
  • Write and speak clearly and effectively.
  • Apply modern computer technology to research and communication.
Humanities degree programs include
  • Literature
  • Language
  • Visual Arts
