Syllabus:
This is an online, open enrollment course and is accessible for 65 days from the date of registration. There are eight sections, each with its own assessment. The assessments help prepare you for the final exam which you can take multiple times. You must achieve an 80% or greater score on the final to pass the course.

| Module 01 |
The Value of Project Management:
In this section we will discuss the role of the project manager in ensuring their team members are engaged and that all resources are utilized to deliver the project on time, on budget and within scope. This is the value of project management to an organization.

Project Management Basics:
This section will touch upon basic project management fundamentals. We will discuss project management groups, team member roles and the project management Areas of Knowledge. You will learn what is required from a methodology perspective as it relates to you operating as the project manager. You begin to gain awareness of the importance of communication, time, cost and risk management.

| Module 03 |
Understanding Project Scheduling:
This section focuses on Scheduling Management and the techniques of building a project schedule. You want to achieve this in the most effective and efficient manner. Included is the importance of managing time, which affects cost and budget. We also cover activity sequencing, duration estimating, Critical Path Method (CPM) and Program Evaluation & Review Technique (PERT).

Project Human Resource Management:
This section is interlinked with scheduling and addresses the issue of competing priorities amongst project team members. We may find ourselves acting as the Program Manager, Resource Manager, Project Manager or another member of the Project Team. All are involved with resource management in one way or another. Team members must understand their jobs, deliverables and the schedule. Communication becomes a key player to ensure team members are engaged and know what is expected regarding the Scope of the project, acceleration opportunities and risk avoidance. Lastly this section addresses the Basic human need for recognition, as well as how to deal with conflict and poor behavior.

| Module 05 |
Risk Management:
This section will address ways to identify, mitigate and manage risk. Understanding what to look for is the first step. Risk management is about internal control management and being proactive. Knowing when resources are challenged and ensuring proper communications. We discuss how to analyze and rank Risk. We finish with Risk Response Strategies.

| Module 06 |
Project Estimating:
This section focuses on Estimating and Budgeting as it relates to Scheduling. Performing estimation requires standardization to ensure accuracy of data. We discuss the Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT). We discuss the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and proper sequencing. These skills are critical in determining deadlines for deliverables.

| Module 07 |
Applying Project Management Basics:
This section discusses the importance of bringing it all together from a framework perspective and how you apply it to people (your human resources) to get tasks accomplished. This is your value proposition as a project manager. You will learn more about optimization and throughput and the following team behaviors: ask vs. wait, opportunity and threat recognition, education, communication and ownership.

Control Management:
This final section discusses the internal controls that assist you manage the project. How you use these controls will determine your success. Without control we have greater effort, use wasteful resources and extend time of delivery. These all translate to greater expense for the company. Control is another added value you bring to your organization as a Project Manager.
