Medical Information Management and Office Practice

(45 hours of instruction) In this course, you'll learn how to manage the flow of information in a health care setting. We'll discuss the reasons for keeping good medical records and who actually owns them. We'll examine the process for preparing a new patient record, including the types of reports a medical record contains and what order they go in. You'll also find out how to correct medical records, the different types of numbering and filing systems medical facilities use, and how to locate records that have been filed incorrectly.

Then you'll learn about communication in an office setting including communicating with disabled patients. And finally, we'll delve into the medical office administrative process. By the time you finish this course, you'll have acquired a thorough understanding of the records management process and of medical office administrative procedures.
