Project Management Office Certified (PMOC)The Project Management Office Certification (PMOC) course was created by the ALLPMO Network and the PMOC designation is recognized globally. This self paced, open enrollment course is based on the best selling PMO book "Advanced Project Portfolio Management and the PMO: Multiplying ROI at Warp Speed," by authors Gerry Kendall and Steve Rollins.

This course brings together the best of program and project management practices in application through a PMO. You will learn how to grow the value proposition of a PMO from startup to maturity. You will also learn how to implement governance value and improve transparency, so the value of program and project management can be realized by the business as a whole. Syllabus:

This is an online, open enrollment course and is accessible for 65 days from the date of registration. There are eight sections, each with its own assessment. The assessments help prepare you for the final exam which you can take multiple times. You must achieve an 80% or greater score on the final to pass the course. Participants who earn PMO Certification will receive a Certificate, an Award letter, 30 PDU’s, and become registered in the ALLPMO Network’s global database. Certification is good for four (4) years. PMO Certification recognizes an individuals understanding of the methodologies and practices that bring greater value to the Project Management and Project Management Office environment.

Week One
Module 01
This is an overall introduction to the PMO. The author discusses the areas of; Building a PMO that Executives will embrace, Current Practices and Paradigms, PMO Initiative and Characteristics, Marketing Projects, Four Essential Elements to build a PMO to Last, PMO Implementation Failure, PMO Structures, PMO Function, PMO Customers, PMO 2 Year Plan, Moving Project Management from a Cost Model to a Throughput Model.

Module 02
Gaining Control of Project Management Value:

The second section focuses on gaining control of Project Management Value. Subsections include: Defining internal controls and their attributes, How internal controls are identified, Implementation process for new internal controls, Maintaining internal controls, Case studies and lastly, Transparency in the project delivery environment.

Week Two
Module 03
Governance:

The third section focuses on Governance and Governance Board, Prioritization Management, Portfolio Management Process and How to Implement one, and concludes with Linking Project Process to Strategic Objectives.

Module 04
PMO in Detail:

This section focuses on the PMO in Detail and touches upon Delivery Management and Acceleration, Project Portfolio Management, Resource Portfolio Measurement and Asset Portfolio Management.

Week Three
Module 05
Statistical Validity in Scheduling:

This section focuses on the Statistical Validity of Scheduling. It touches upon Cause and Effect Impact on Project Teams, Improving Negative Human Behavior on Projects and Improving the Predictive Capability of the PMO.

Module 06
PMO Infrastructure:

This section focuses on the PMO Infrastructure. It discusses the factors in Determining the Right Model for an Organization, PMO Roles, Responsibilities and Values, Inputs and Outputs to / from a PMO, PMO Measurement Systems, PPM Tools and Value, and lastly PMI and PMBOK.

Week Four
Module 07
Executive Proposal and Buy-In:

This section focuses on Executive Proposal and Buy in. It discusses the proposal in detail, how to obtain buy-in, and an Implementation Plan for the PMO.

Module 08
Increasing the Level of PMO Maturity:

This final section discusses the efforts involved in increasing the Level of PMO Maturity and the PMO Value Proposition. Various Maturity Levels, a Road Map to Implementing a PMO, and finally a section on Sustaining the PMO Value.
