Current Students:
The Code
Honesty, integrity, and personal responsibility are values that form the very foundation of Pass Christian University. Our highest priority is to protect and maintain academic integrity. Therefore, any form of academic dishonesty is considered a serious violation of the ethics and high standards of this institution.
Academic dishonesty can take many forms, including cheating, plagiarism, falsifying information or citations, assisting others in acts of academic dishonesty, possessing advance copies of an upcoming exam without instructor approval, submitting the work of another person as one's own, or submitting one's own work from a previous class without the permission of the current instructor.
Violations of the Code
Charges of academic dishonesty may be reported by faculty or students. All such charges will be investigated by the University's Ethics Board. Students have the right to appear before the Board to defend themselves against accusations of academic dishonesty.
If a student is found to be in violation of Pass Christian University's Code, a suitable disciplinary action will be imposed by the student's instructor in consultation with the Board. Depending on the severity of the infraction and the student's past record, disciplinary action may include any of the following:
- Written reprimand
- Grade of 0 on an assignment
- Grade lower than assignment would otherwise earn
- Failing grade for the course
- Removal from the course recorded as "withdrew failing" (WF)
- Academic probation
- Suspension from the University
- Expulsion from the University
Students remain responsible after graduation for their work submitted during their enrollment at PCU. If a former student is found to be in violation of Pass Christian University's Academic Code of Honor, disciplinary action may include revocation of any degree conferred by the University.
Unfavorable decisions by the Ethics Board may be appealed by the accused student by submitting justification for appeal, in writing, to the Dean.
