At Pass Christian University, we strive to give our independent students the best of both worlds-the flexibility and freedom of a distance learning program combined with all the support for learning one would expect to receive from a traditional college or university. Our Learning Resources have been developed with your academic success in mind, reflecting our belief that independent does not mean isolated.
- Advising and Assessment Services
PCU offers a variety of assessment tools to evaluate a student's strengths and weaknesses, determine course level, and recommend placement. Following assessment, a faculty advisor is assigned to each student to assist in course selection to fulfill requirements for graduation. Advisors also work with students to identify potential problems and their remedies.
- Peer Tutoring
Upon request, PCU will match students with student tutors to facilitate learning in challenging courses. Peer tutors have demonstrated excellence in their fields through their own PCU course work. There are no fees for participation in the cooperative tutoring program.
- Online Writing Center
Effective writing is essential to academic success, but writing is the single greatest challenge faced by most students entering PCU. Our Online Writing Center is designed to allow students to get the help they need to become clear, effective writers. In addition to a wealth of articles and interactive tutorials on various aspects of writing, the Online Writing Center provides a forum for students to discuss their writing assignments with tutors and other students via chat room or electronic bulletin board.
- Learning Resource Center (Library)
Pass Christian University is proud of its Learning Resource Center. In cooperation with dozens of local, regional and academic libraries, the LRC gives students online access to full-text articles from hundreds of periodicals and journals. Our interlibrary loan program allows students to borrow books and audio/visual materials from any library in our interloan group. There is a nominal fee for interloan borrowing to cover shipping and handling costs.
