Faculty / Staff Resources:
It is the policy of Pass Christian University to maintain the highest standards in the delivery of education. In accordance with this policy, PCU has adopted the following guidelines.
Course Content and Implementation
- Course content must meet local, state, and/or national standards.
- Course content must be equivalent to traditionally delivered courses.
- Courses will make use of up-to-date technologies and resources.
- Technology is user-friendly to allow learners to focus on course content.
- Courses must provide frequent and timely interactions among students and between students and instructor.
- Course materials must be designed to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Staffing and Administration
- All distance learning faculty are fully qualified in the disciplines they teach.
- Teachers are trained and skilled in distance learning theory and methods.
- All instructors must
- maintain an electronic file of all course syllabi.
- maintain a schedule for personal consultation with students.
- provide ample feedback to students.
- read and respond to student e-mail.
- integrate use of discussion boards and other tools to promote
student participation.
- develop course content according to PCU standards.
- PCU provides essential services to support faculty in delivering instruction.
- Faculty members must adhere to and communicate copyright and other laws and guidelines pertaining to the distribution and ethical use of resources.
Evaluation
- Courses are evaluated regularly to determine their success in achieving objectives, and improvements and modifications are based on these evaluations.
- Teachers' performance evaluations are conducted annually.
- Students' assessments are collected at the end of each class and include in course evaluations.
Student Guidelines
All students enrolled in courses at Pass Christian University must
- Have access to an Internet provider.
- Be able to use an alternative computer in case of technical problems.
- Have an email account and be able to check it frequently.
- Have the ability to work independently
- Be able to devote sufficient time to studies (approximately 6 hours per course).
- Possess persistence and excellent organization and time management skills.
- Be able to study from written material, notes, and videos.
- Be able to read at college level.
- Write clearly and effectively.
- Possess skills in keyboarding and the use of Microsoft Word and be able to send an attached file.
- Adhere to PCU's Academic Code of Honor.
