Prospective Students:
The demand for continuing education has grown exponentially over the past several decades. Studies show that most Americans will change careers several times in their lives. Each change requires new knowledge and skills. And even workers who stay in one career must continue to learn in order to stay on top of developments in their field.
At Pass Christian University, our academic programs feature flexible, accessible curricula to meet the needs of today's students and high academic standards to meet the needs of today's businesses.
All courses offered through Pass Christian University embody the same standards for academic quality as those courses offered in traditional institutions with traditional instructional delivery formats.
Pass Christian has adopted the following guidelines to ensure the academic integrity of courses offered to distant learners through its programs.
To ensure eligibility for academic credit worthiness, each Pass Christian course
- must follow a formal written syllabus based on the course description in the Course Catalog and be taught by a fully qualified faculty member.
- must require proof of student identity.
- must include proctored or supervised learning activities, such as exams, quizzes, etc., to demonstrate that the student has mastered the course content.
- must include real-time discussion of portfolio work (i.e., writing, art, etc.) in a conference between student and instructor.
- must include opportunities for regular interaction, by e-mail and/or live chat, between instructor and students assigned to the course.
Course Evaluation and Assessment
All courses at Pass Christian University are subjected to the same assessment and evaluation process as courses at any traditional institution. Assessment instruments completed by faculty and students each semester provide the information necessary to evaluate the effectiveness of our distance education courses.
While the format of assessment forms may vary, each form will collect at least the following information:
- Degree of student's satisfaction with the format of instruction (online, A/V, etc.)
- Accessibility and responsiveness of the instructor
- Accessibility and effectiveness of college support services (e.g. library, tutoring, etc.)
Assessments are summarized in a document that describes results and identifies actions that will be taken to correct deficiencies. Course evaluation and assessment is a critical component of the University's review and continual improvement process.
Documentation
To respond to inquiries, Pass Christian University will maintain the following records:
- Student records
- Credentials of instructors assigned to each course
- Course syllabus and other evidence that courses meet the university's academic standards as described above
- Copies of examinations and other evaluations administered by the university; and
- Grade distribution for students registered for the course at that college.
Records are available in print and digital format. Pass Christian responds to all requests for information in a timely manner.
